Foods and ingredients which are nutrient-dense will become your barometer for choosing healthy foods rather than only using the nutrition facts label and calorie measurement. While grocery shopping, I challenge you to take some time to understand the full story behind every food you review before purchasing. Every product has a narrative, with a beginning, middle and end. The person consuming the product is the end of the story, so I think it makes sense to go back and understand the origin of that product and the ingredients that were added along the way. Investigate whether the product is made of truly natural ingredients or is it overly refined and processed with unusual names? The product’s story may claim to be a low-fat or low-calorie product, but it may also be void of nutrients or full of toxic chemicals—making it more damaging than beneficial to your balance.
